Beaches
This page will tell you more about local beaches in Cornwall. Gradually we will provide more information about them.
Cornwall no longer has any "official" beaches. Sadly, the one at Polgaver, near St Austell, has been lost to developers. But there are plenty of unofficial ones, many of which have been in discreet use for decades. Some notable ones are:
- Flexbury Beach - north of Bude and south of Northcott Mouth
- Little Strand Beach - near Trevigue, Crackington Haven
- Penhale Sands - north of Perranporth - despite some recent hassles this beach is still in use. However, you are strongly advised not to trespass on the M.O.D. land in the dunes and adjoining the area
- Fishing Cove - also known as Fisherman's Cove - to the west of Hell's Mouth Cliff
- Porthkidney Beach - near St Ives
- Porthzennor Cove - near Zennor
- Veor Cove - also near Zennor
- Porthmeor Cove - near Porthmear and Bosigran
- Nanquidno - near Kelynack
- Pedn Vounder - Treen - some steep paths and scrambling involved. All the same, it is a very popular and well- known beach
- Loe Bar - also known as Berepper- south of RNAS Culdrose - go to the east end of the beach near Gunwalloe and Berepper. sandy beach and some rocks
- Arthur's Beach - south-west of Swanpool Beach near Falmouth
- Vault Beach - near Gorran Haven
- Downderry in South East Cornwall - but we ask you to go well to the East of the village ( to the third cove) and not stay near the local school! This beach has been used for many years, but gradually the naturist users have been moving nearer the village which is causing some problems. You need to be aware that the traditional place is cut off at high tide, but it can be accessed by a steep path down from the main road ( very limited parking)
- Portwrinkle - go to the second beach to the west of the village. You will need to scramble over some rocks, so beware of the tides. A pebbly beach with some sand and rocks - see picture at left. Not well frequented but a very pleasant atmosphere
